LYRICS

THE POTTER © 2010 Bronwyn Edwards Cryer

I went down to the potter’s house and I saw him working at the wheel
And the pot he was shaping was marred, alas, but the potter said, “No big deal,
I’ll reshape, remake this clay to a beautiful thing for sure...”
Said God to the House of Israel, “With you I can do more...
With you, I can do so much more.”

I went down to the church in the trees and heard God whisper in the wind
My soul it may be marred, alas, but God works silently within
To reshape, remake my soul to a beautiful thing for sure...
Said God to those who are gathered in the House, “With you I can do more...”

“Can I not do with you as the potter does, can I not change my plan?
Like clay in the hand of the potter, so are you in my hand.
Oh, so are you in my hand. Oh, so are you in my hand.”

God like a skilled potter, forging the wet clay
Molding our beings to shape our lives today.

We all gather in the House of God and hear God’s Word today
Our souls they may be marred, alas, but mold us all, we pray
Can God not do as the potter does? Can God not change our plan?
Like clay in the hand of the potter, so are we in God’s hand.

Oh, so are we in God’s hand; oh, so are we in God’s hand
Oh, so are we in God’s hand; oh, so are we in God’s hand
Hmmm, so are we in God’s hand; hmm, so are we in God’s hand.
